Google Trends: Write About What Is Trending Now
What it does: Shows what your country is searching for right now and writes an article about any of it in one click — from the news reports Google Trends itself lists behind that trend, each one fetched and checked to be published in the last 48 hours before a word is written.

What makes this different
Almost anything can ask a model to "write about today’s news". The problem is that a model has no
today: it writes a confident, fluent article from whatever it remembers, and there is no way to tell
from the page that the facts are six months stale.
This does the opposite. Every article starts from real reports that were fetched, read, and dated:
- Google Trends lists the news articles behind each trend.
- Antradus opens each one and reads the publication time out of the page itself — the article’s
structured data, itsarticle:published_timetag, or its own time element. - Anything published more than 48 hours ago is dropped — and named, so you can see what was
rejected and why. - What survives is ranked and handed to the writer as source material, with live web search on.
If nothing survives, no article is written. You are told what was found instead.
Before you start: the SerpApi key
Trend data comes from SerpApi, which reads Google Trends on your behalf and needs its own key.
- Sign up at serpapi.com — the free plan gives 250 searches
a month. - Paste the key into Antradus AI → Settings → Google Trends.
- Press Test connection. It reports your plan and how many searches are left, and — unlike every
other call — costs you nothing.
What uses a search: loading the trend list is one. Opening a trend to see its news sources is one
more. Repeats within 10 minutes come from the cache and are free. Checking the sources themselves and
writing the article cost nothing at SerpApi (the writing costs the usual request on your AI provider).
Step by step
1. Find a trend
Set Country, Time (past 4 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours or 7 days) and optionally a Category,
then press Show trends.
Each row gives you the search phrase, roughly how many searches it has had, how fast it is climbing,
when it started, and the related terms people are also typing. Active trends only hides the ones
that have already cooled off.
Sort re-orders what is on screen without spending another search. By relevance keeps Google’s
own ranking, which is usually the one you want.
2. Press "Write about this"
The drawer opens on that trend and starts checking its sources — one at a time, so you can watch
each verdict arrive:
- ✅ published 18:40 — 2 hours after the trend started — usable.
- ❌ published 25 Aug, 21:40 — more than 48 hours ago — dropped.
- ❌ mostly links — menu/index/category — the page is a section front, not a report.
- ❌ subscribe to continue — a paywall.
It stops as soon as it has enough good sources and says so, rather than reading pages nothing will be
written from.
3. When nothing survives
Sometimes every report Google lists is older than that. The tab tells you exactly that — how many it
looked at, which was newest, and when it was published — and the Your own source box turns red.
Paste the address of any report published in the last 48 hours and press Check this source. It
goes through the identical check, and if it passes, the Write about this topic button unlocks.
That box is always there, not only after a refusal: if you already know the piece you want this
written from, paste it and skip the rest.
4. Set the article up and queue it
The usual controls: style, tone, language, post type, category, author, whether to fill your SEO
fields, generate a featured image, or add an FAQ.
Two things are specific to this tab:
- 📎 List the sources at the end of the article — adds a real "Sources" list with each outlet and
publication time. It is built by the plugin from the pages it read, never written by the AI. - Live web search is always on and cannot be turned off here. That is the point of a trend
article. It costs extra on your AI provider account, per article.
Press ✍️ Write about this topic. The job lands in the ordinary queue, so it inherits scheduling,
retries, cron and everything else Bulk Publishing already does.
Publish now is usually right. A trend is perishable — a long drip publishes yesterday’s news
tomorrow.
What the article is told
The writer is given the checked reports, each labelled with its outlet, its publication time and its
address, and instructed to:
- name the outlet for every figure, quotation and exclusive detail, in the prose;
- reuse no sentence from any source;
- not outrun them — nothing may contradict the reports, and no development later than the newest
one may be described; - let length follow the material — a story with three confirmed facts is a short article;
- not write its own sources list, because the plugin adds the real one.
If the reports turn out to be about something other than the trend phrase (Google’s phrases can be
ambiguous), the job refuses rather than guessing.
What is kept on the post
Every finished trend article records where it came from, in post meta:
_antradus_trend_query— the trend it was written for._antradus_trend_sources— the full record: the sources used, the ones dropped and why, the trend’s
country and volume, and the moment the check ran.
The published "Sources" list shows only the reports actually used. The dropped ones stay on the record
where an editor can see them, because a reader has no use for "we checked this and rejected it".
Settings
Antradus AI → Settings → Google Trends
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| SerpApi Key | Your key. Leave the field blank when saving to keep the one already stored. |
| Default country | Where the Trends tab opens. You can change it per search without saving. |
| Sources per article | 2–8, default 4. Never two from the same outlet — four copies of one wire story is one source, not four. |
| How fresh a source must be | Published in the last 48 hours (recommended), or that and within 12 or 6 hours of the trend. The 48 hours are counted back from now, never rounded to a calendar day. The tighter settings find fewer sources. |
| List sources by default | Whether the "Sources" checkbox starts ticked. |
Troubleshooting
"No SerpApi key saved yet."
Add one under Settings → Google Trends. The Trends tab cannot read anything without it.
"SerpApi rejected that key, so it has been cleared."
The key was wrong or has been revoked. Paste a new one — the old one is not kept, so a bad key never
sits there failing quietly.
"Your SerpApi plan has no searches left this month."
The free plan is 250 searches. Loading the list is one, opening a trend is one more. It resets
monthly, or you can raise the plan at serpapi.com.
"DeepSeek cannot write these."
Trend articles always use live web search, and DeepSeek’s API does not offer it. Pick another provider
under Settings → AI Providers.
On OpenAI, web search needs a search-capable model.
gpt-5 or gpt-4o. Check your model under Settings → AI Providers before queueing several.
A source says "the page gave no timezone".
The page stated a date and time but no zone, so the hour is our best reading of it. The day is
almost always still right, which is what the check depends on — but it is flagged rather than
presented as certain.
"Google Trends lists no news articles for this trend yet."
The trend may be minutes old. Wait for the next refresh, or paste your own source.
