Share to Social: Facebook, Instagram & LinkedIn
What it does: Turns any published post into one branded picture (the featured image, your logo in the top-left corner and the title along the bottom) that you arrange by drag and drop, preview as each network shows it, download, or publish straight to your Facebook Page, Instagram account and LinkedIn company page, with the article as the first comment.

Where it is
Go to Posts (or Pages, or Products) and hover over any published post. Next to View there is a Share to social link. Click it and the builder opens for that post.
Once a post has been shared, the link reads Shared ✓ FB · IG · in, so you can see from the list what has already gone out.
1. The picture
The builder starts from the post’s featured image, with your site logo in the top-left corner and the post title at the bottom centre over a soft dark fade.
- Move anything: drag the logo, the title or any text.
- Resize: drag the round dot on the corner of whatever you selected.
- Reposition the photo: drag the photo itself to choose which part stays in view; use Zoom in the panel on the right to crop in further.
- Keyboard: click a layer (or Tab to it), then use the arrow keys to move it 1% at a time (hold Shift for 5%), and + / − to make it bigger or smaller.
- Add text: + Add text puts a new line on the picture. Type anything, or use
{site}for the site name,{category}for the post’s first category and{title}for the post title. Select it and press Delete to remove it. - Change the title: select the title and type a shorter one in the panel; leave it empty to use the post title. It wraps onto up to 3 lines and ends in "…" if it is still too long (the panel tells you when that happens).
For each text you can choose the font, bold, size, colour, alignment, how many lines it may use, a solid band or a fade behind it, and a shadow. Arabic, Hebrew and other right-to-left text is shaped and laid out correctly.
Three shapes: Portrait 4:5 (1080 × 1350, the most space in an Instagram feed), Square 1:1 (1080 × 1080) and Landscape (1200 × 630, the widest shape Instagram accepts). One picture is used for all three networks, and each shape keeps its own arrangement.
Your logo
The logo is taken, in this order, from: the logo you chose in the builder, the theme’s Site Logo (Appearance → Customize → Site Identity), then the Site Icon. A PNG with a transparent background looks best. SVG files cannot be used; pick a PNG or JPEG version.
Saving positions
- Save this design keeps everything about this post’s picture, captions and choices, so it opens the same way next time.
- Save positions as default (administrators) makes the current arrangement the starting point for every post, and, if you chose a logo here, makes that the logo every post starts with.
- Reset to default positions goes back to the saved default for the current shape.
Download
⬇ Download image saves the JPEG straight to your computer, exactly as you see it. No account connection is needed for this.
2. What it says
The first comment
Choose what is posted as the first comment, straight after the picture, on every network you publish to:
| Choice | What is posted |
|---|---|
| Link to the article (default) | "Read the full article:" and the post’s link |
| Excerpt + link | The post’s excerpt (or its opening words), then the link |
| Full article text | The article as plain text, cut to fit each network, with the link at the end |
| No comment | Nothing; the link goes at the end of the Facebook and LinkedIn captions instead |
When text has to be cut to fit, it is cut at a word and the link is always kept. Comment limits are 8,000 characters on Facebook, 2,200 on Instagram and 1,250 on LinkedIn.
Instagram links are plain text. Neither captions nor comments on Instagram make links clickable, so the Instagram comment is for people who want to copy the address.
Captions
There is one caption per network, filled in from the post’s title and excerpt, with the post’s tags as hashtags on Instagram. Edit any of them freely; the counter under each one turns red when it is over the network’s limit (Facebook 63,206, Instagram 2,200 and at most 30 hashtags, LinkedIn 3,000).
✨ Write captions with AI reads the article and writes all three in one go, in the article’s language, using your normal AI provider (it shows in Reporting as Social captions). It only says what the article says. Back to the plain captions undoes it.
3. Preview
Three simple previews show roughly how the post appears on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn: the picture, where each network cuts the caption off ("… more", "See more", "…see more") and the first comment.
4. Publish
Tick the networks to post to and press Publish now…. A confirmation lists exactly which accounts it will go to, which first comment you picked, and anything this post was already shared to. Nothing is sent until you confirm.
The status list then shows each step as it happens. If one network fails, the others still go ahead, and the message says what went wrong. ■ Stop stops after the step in progress; anything already listed as posted stays posted.
- Facebook and LinkedIn receive the picture directly from your site, so they work even from a local or staging site.
- Instagram downloads the picture from your site’s public address. That only works on a live site the internet can reach, not on localhost, behind a password, in maintenance mode, or with hotlink protection. The builder checks this before anything is created on Instagram and tells you if it cannot work.
- Instagram and LinkedIn have no drafts: a post is public the moment it is sent.
- If the connection drops in the middle of posting, the plugin will not post again automatically; it tells you to check the account first, so nothing is ever posted twice by accident.
Posting to the company accounts needs an Editor or Administrator. Authors can still build and download the picture.
Connecting your accounts (administrators, once per site)
Open Social accounts at the bottom of the Share to social screen. You connect your own apps, the same way you use your own AI key: there is no middleman and nothing is shared with us.
Facebook Page + Instagram
You need a Facebook Page, and, for Instagram, an Instagram Business or Creator account linked to that Page (Instagram app → Settings → Account type and tools → switch to professional, then link the Page).
- Go to developers.facebook.com → My Apps → Create App → choose the Business type (or the use case for managing a Page / Instagram content).
- In the app, add the Facebook Login for Business and Instagram (Instagram API with Facebook Login) products.
- App settings → Basic: copy the App ID and App Secret into the plugin and press Save app details. Fill in a Privacy Policy URL and a Data Deletion URL there too, and switch the app to Live; while an app is in Development mode, its posts are visible only to people with a role on the app.
- Open Tools → Graph API Explorer, pick your app, and under Permissions add:
pages_show_list,pages_read_engagement,pages_manage_posts,pages_manage_engagement,instagram_basic,instagram_content_publish,instagram_manage_comments, andbusiness_managementif your Page belongs to a Business portfolio. Press Generate Access Token, approve, and tick your Page. - Copy the token into User access token and press Find my Pages. Pick the Page and press Use this Page.
The plugin swaps that short token for your Page’s own token, which does not expire, and throws your personal token away. It then checks which permissions were granted and names any that are missing.
LinkedIn company page
You need to be an administrator of the LinkedIn company page.
- Go to linkedin.com/developers → Create app, and attach it to your company page.
- Under Products, request the Community Management API. LinkedIn reviews this and it can take days or weeks; it must be the only product on that app.
- Under Auth, add the Redirect URL shown in the plugin (use Copy the redirect URL) exactly as it is, and make sure the scopes
w_organization_social,r_organization_socialandrw_organization_adminare listed. - Copy the Client ID and Primary Client Secret into the plugin and press Save app details.
- Press Sign in with LinkedIn, approve, and you come back to the builder. Pick the company page to post as.
LinkedIn connections last 60 days. The builder warns you a week before, and Reconnect LinkedIn takes a few seconds. If LinkedIn gave your app refresh tokens, the connection renews itself instead.
Disconnecting
Each section has Disconnect. It removes the connection; tick also forget the app ID and secret to remove those too. Nothing already posted is touched.
Troubleshooting
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| Meta no longer accepts this connection | A password change, a lost Page role or a removed app ends a Page token. Reconnect with a fresh token from the Graph API Explorer. The app ID and secret are kept. |
| Meta refused for lack of a permission | Reconnect and tick every permission listed above. The connect step names any that were missing. |
| The picture’s address answered HTTP 403/404 | Instagram cannot download the picture. Turn off maintenance mode, site passwords or hotlink protection for the uploads folder. |
| …served as "image/webp", not as a JPEG | An image-optimisation plugin is converting files on the fly. Exclude the uploads it serves to Instagram, or turn off WebP delivery for them. |
| This Instagram account has reached its daily publishing limit | Instagram allows a set number of API posts per 24 hours. Try again tomorrow. |
| LinkedIn refused … must be an ADMIN | The LinkedIn member who signed in is not an administrator of that company page, or the app does not have the Community Management API yet. |
| …has retired API version | The networks retire old API versions every year or two. Update the plugin. |
| may already have posted this | The connection dropped while a post was being sent. Check the account; the plugin will not post it again on its own. |
